A little wet but a good day for birding on Grassy Island, Greenwich. Scaup numbers are growing- there were 16 LESSER SCAUP in the harbor, and a huge raft of ducks outside the harbor and too far to ID positively but I believe they too were scaup. There are numerous BLACK DUCKS, BUFFLEHEADS, HOODED MERGANSERS and RED BREASTED MERGANSERS (in that order of relative abundance) around Grassy Island. Two RED-THROATED LOONS and one COMMON LOON were there, as well as a continuing PIED-BILLED GREBE. DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS are still lingering, and there was one BONAPARTES GULL at the usual (SE) corner.
