[CT Birds] Hammo. this morning

01/28/12-Madison, Hammonasset State Park: a scouting trip for the upcoming
NHBC walks yielded a number of nice sightings, including : two drake COMMON
EIDER (Hudson Bay subspecies), several PURPLE SANDPIPER, two Ruddy
Turnstones, ~100 Sanderlings and ~100 Dunlin, and several Red-throated and
Common Loon at Meigs Point; one male Surf Scoter, more loons, several Horned
Grebe, two Great Cormorant, and four seals at the end of the Moraine Trail;
16 Horned Lark and two Snow Buntings in the nature center  grass parking
area; Yellow-rumped Warbler, Am. Robins, Flicker, Bufflehead, Red-breasted
Merganser, and Northern Harrier along the Willard's Island trail; 8 Surf
Scoter off West Beach; 15 Hooded Merganser in the swan pond; and 40+ Cedar
Waxwings in the campgrounds area.
