From the posts it seems like noon is the ideal time - the day I saw it at noon also. Bring a lawn chair - walk between the stone pillars - to the right of the right pillar is a thicket. Park yourself across from this thicket - someone usually places seed here in the AM. Wait - look for a sparrow significantly larger than the white-throated sparrow. My guess is this bird hangs out in the back of this thicket and you will never find him under he emerges on his own accord.
