[CT Birds] Lake Hammonassett, Killingworth, 2/18/12

On a hike around L. Hammonassett:
 
1 THRUSH sp. - looked like a Hermit Thrush except for color, more blue-gray 
 than red-brown, but it was in fairly dark woods so it was hard to tell. 
Flew  right in front of me and landed in a tree about 40 feet away.
 
2 Northern Shovelers, appeared to be m and f
 
7 Scaup sp. - appeared to be Lesser
 
At least 100 Common Mergansers, perhaps more, spread out around the lake  
and in at least 1 very large flock. 
 
Mallards
 
5 probable Ruddy Ducks, too far for good id. Could have been  more.
