3/2/12 9:45 am, Horseshoe Road, Wilton, 70 Ring-necked Ducks

Easily my highest count at Horseshoe Pond along with a few Hooded Mergansers and a couple of Mallards. At the equally shallow but less wind protected Kent Pond in northern Wilton there are only two Ring-necked Ducks today.
It must have been quite a show yesterday at Tussey Mountain Hawkwatch in State College PA. yesterday. Each Spring, the favorable topography becomes a corridor for returning raptors. Hawkcount dot org shows 32 Golden Eagles were counted flying northbound over that watchsite. Hopefully a few of these will be counted flying through this state.
