At Penfield Reef this afternoon there is the first sign of the gulls' plankton feeding this year at this location. However, it's not much, with probably just over a thousand gulls, along with some Brant, goldeneye, Red-breasted Mergansers, Horned Grebes, and an odd Northern Gannet resting on the water. The frenzy has begun, and I expect the numbers of gulls will increase here throughout the next week or two.
