Avalonia Land Trust, Deans Mill Preserve, Stonington, 3:00 PM - Male yellow-bellied sapsucker
For the second time in a week we've seen bats (big browns, based on their chatter) feeding in early afternoon, once today at the above location over a vernal pond, and last week at Barn Island (at around 2:00) on a trail not far from the north end of the property. Does anyone know if it is unusual for bats to be active and feeding in broad daylight this time of year?
