I spent an enjoyable morning birding Pine Creek, notching 45 species in
just over three hours. Highlights below:

1 Ring-necked Pheasant -- one calling bird heard several times throughout
my visit in the thick brushy area below one rod highway. The first time
I've had this species here in four years!
1 Yellow-crowned Night-Heron -- CT FOY
2 Winter Wren -- both birds singing
1 Golden-crowned Kinglet
2 Ruby-crowned Kinglet -- both birds quite vocal; singing constantly
2 Hermit Thrush
1 Pine Warbler -- seen and heard well at the entrance with kinglets and
titmice
1 Eastern Towhee -- CT FOY. Male heard (singing) and then seen in the
brushy area near the alternate entrance where the catbirds wintered.
8 Swamp Sparrow
