>From Larry Nichols -Penwood Park in Bloomfield-4/14/12I went to the top of the ridge for a couple of hours to look for hawks. I saw a few including 8 Broad-winged Hawks, 1 Peregrine Falcon, and also saw 3 Black Vultures.Along the trails I counted 6 Hermit Thrush and 4 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers. Also heard a Winter Wren singing and saw a few Pine Warblers. Probably the most interesting thing I saw were 4 large black snakes sunning themselves in a big tree located right next to one of the trail roads. They were about 4-6 feet in lenght. I think they were rat snakes-it was an interesing thing to see with 2 partially coiled up and 2 0f them stretched out to full length on a branch.
