[CT Birds] E. Lyme Whips & night drive mammal grand slam

4/21 - East Lyme, Nehantic State Forest, 7:15 pm - after dusk, all heard from the power lines 1.1 miles or so from Grassy Hill Rd except waterthrushes --
 
4 Whip-poor-will  (2 on each side of the road)
1 Barred Owl
2 Hermit Thrush
3 Louisiana Waterthrush
1 Eastern Towhee
1 Chipping Sparrow
 
Earlier in afternoon at Nehantic SF in Lyme:
 
2 Broad-winged Hawk (one on ground)
1 Pileated Woodpecker
4 Eastern Towhee
2 Yellow-rumped Warbler
2 Wood Duck
5 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
2 Eastern Bluebird
 
A mammal grand slam on the drive home: Between 8:30 pm and 8:45 pm (in only 15 minutes!) on the side of the road in the headlights -- I hadn't seen any of these in quite a while --
