Things were hopping today 5/12/2012 at Wilcox Park and the Coastal Center. There was a male Cape May singing in the spruces across from the exit at Wilcox, along with about 15 other species of warblers. Good numbers of BT Greens, American Redstarts, and N. Parulas, a couple BT Blues, Several Magnolias, Ovenbirds.. and the list goes on.. 4 species of Vireos, and a flock of 12 Cedar Waxwings. At the Coastal Center, highlights included a flyby Yellow-billed Cuckoo, a Brown Thrasher, 9 species of warblers, a Killdeer (not common here), and a credible report of a female Blue Grosbeak seen well at the side of the road, and well described. It flew up and sat on the wires for a moment before it was flushed by a truck. It was along the road just to the left of the trail that goes to the beach. It has not been refound.
