[CT Birds] Owls and Rules

While I try to let CTBirds run with as few rules as possible, there are some and they can be found here:

I want to emphasize one of them at the moment.

* Some birds should not be posted for the good of the bird. This includes day-roosting owls - Eastern Screech, Great Horned, Barred, Barn, Long-eared and Northern Saw-whet. It also includes nesting birds, particularly directions to nests.

We all get excited when we see a perched owl, but remember that daytime is when they are vulnerable. Owls don't have any friends. Calling attention to one, or worse causing it to move, only increases their vulnerability. At this time of year when they are likely to have owlets with them it is that much worse. And this list aside, we all need to think twice before bringing a crowd in to see one.

Thanks, and good birding!
