Check out today's (June 29) American Birding Association blog
reminding birders to buy their Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and
Conservation Stamp:

June 29 is the first day of sale for the Federal Migratory Bird
Hunting and Conservation Stamp, also known as the "Duck Stamp". The
stamp covers your entrance fee in to any National Wildlife Refuge
that charges one, for the entire stamp year running from July 1, 2012
to June 30, 2013. You can purchase a stamp at a refuge fee station
or office, most post offices, from refuge Friends groups and over the

The story of the stamp is a great one. Since 1934, the sales of
Federal Duck Stamps have generated more than $750 million, which has
been used to purchase or lease over 5.3 million acres of
waterfowl/wetland habitat in the National Wildlife Refuge System
(www.fws.gov/refuges/). Ninety-eight cents of every dollar of the
$15 cost goes to land protection.

Let's step up and support this wonderful tradition and powerful
conservation tool!
