[CT Birds] OT Maps

Paper, or "hard copy" maps are often essential for areas off the beaten
track. I spent most of last week hiking and driving in the Pine Barrens of
New Jersey, primarily in Wharton State Forest searching mainly for Northern
Pine Snake and Pine Barrens Tree Frog (both successfully), and a hard copy
map of the forest roads was absolutely essential to avoid getting lost among
the myriad of passable and impassable tracks. Luckily the internet is a
wonderful source of info for off-the-beaten-track mapping info and it will
likely only get better. Many GPS instrument manufacturers also have great
software maps for these areas as well (typically but not always pricey), but
there is still a lot to be said for a hard copy map and compass!
