This spring, ospreys built a nest on a utility pole on the corner of Quirk and
Anderson Roads in Milford CT. UI had put insulation on the wires on each side of
the nest for protection, yet during the thunderstorm on Sunday evening,
lightning struck nearby and an electrical surge jumped to the nest and ignited
it. The mother bird was seen circling the nest but the two young were
incinerated. Photos and stories are on nhregister.com for 07/17/12 and
05/05/12... Sigh... Winie Wirth, Milford
