7/18  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center  10AM-1PM, 85-92F,
partly cloudy, high tide rising.
At 10AM , the female was on the nest with the 3 juveniles which appear
almost full grown.  Speckling on their backs. At 10:10, the male returned
to the nest with a fish. Juveniles were all begging.
At 10:15, the female osprey chased off a yellow crowned night heron that
flew near the nest.
10:40 all juveniles were flapping their wings and hopping up and down on
the nest.  Two of them took flight and have been circling around the marsh
intermittently throughout the morning.  Both parents were sitting on the
perch for the rest of the morning.
the third osprey juvenile peered over the edge of the nest and did jump up
, flapping  but did not leave the nest.
Also seen were 9 Purple Martins flying around the gourds, 2 Least
sandpipers, 2 Mockingbirds eating the arrowwood viburnum berries, Common
grackles, D.C. Cormorants, mourning doves, house sparrows, Snowy egret,
Great egret fly by, 3 common terns flying by and a Carolina wren singing.
