8/1 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10AM-1PM,
cloudy-overcast, 75-78F high tide.
at 10AM the 2 adult ospreys were on the perch with one juvenile sprawled
out in the nest. 2 other juveniles joined the first and were on the nest
calling. At 10:40AM the male took off (presumably to get some fish for the
hungry brood) and he returned at 12:05PM to the nest with a fish. One
juvenile grabbed the fish, not sharing it with the other 2. At 12:45PM the
first juvenile was still eating the fish while the other 2 were calling &
wing flapping. At one point in the morning one of the juveniles flew
through the marsh dipping its feet into the water 3 separate times.
