8/15  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 9:50AM-1PM
sunny getting overcast, 75-78F, high tide.
9:50AM-at observation platform in parking lot-no activity at Purple Martin
condo.  2 Least sandpipers and 1 Spotted sandpiper on marsh grasses.
At 10AM adult osprey on perch preening, 2 juveniles on nest-1 eating fish,
2 other ospreys flying around marsh. Tree swallows flying through marsh. At
10:10AM the male flew to the nest, dropped the fish off and left. One of
the ospreys flying around has a feather sticking straight up out of its
right wing tip.  Both juveniles now eating their own fish. Two of the
juveniles on the nest have "brown necklaces". I did not observe any
juvenile catching a fish. The female had flown off and then returned to
perch At 10:40AM with a fish.  At 11AM both male &* female are on perch,
female eating the fish.
at 12:10PM the female was chasing another juvenile out of her territory,
all the time clutching a
piece of fish in her talons.
Other birds seen include: 1 Great Egret, 1 Great blue heron, 1 D.C.
cormorant fishing and a juvenile yellow crowned night heron fly over.
Mourning doves, goldfinches, a carolina wren singing, robins, cardinals, 9
mute swans far out in marsh.
