8/15 - I led a group of 5 others on a Sunrise Birding  Walk at Milford Point (CT 
Audubon Coastal Center) this morning.  Highlights were the continuing out-of 
season Brant (6), a hunting juvenile Peregrine Falcon, good views of 11 species 
of shorebirds, 400 Common Terns, 5 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons, and a pair of 
Common Ravens.  The complete eBird list is below.

Comments:     SUNRISE BIRDING LLC Shorebird/Tern Walk, led by Frank Mantlik.  
68-74F; Partly clear skies, following heavy rain and thunderstorms in early 
morning, wind calm to East @ 10-15 mph.  Highlights were intimate views of 
hunting Peregrine, close views of most of the 11 species of shorebirds seen, 
pair Ravens.

Yellow-crowned Night-Heron  5     including a juvenile with a broken right wing, 
standing in tidal cove, then on sandbar.  Audubon staff later captured it, took 
it to a vet/rehabber.  The wing was badly broken at the shoulder and could not 
be helped, so the bird was euthanized.

American Oystercatcher  5     including a pair with one fairly large young; 
adults were attacked aerially by juvenile Peregrine before our eyes.
