>From Dana Campbell and the gang:
9/14/12 - New Haven - Lighthouse Point Park Hawkwatch - 31 migrating
raptors: 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS, 2 Merlins, 2 Kestrels, 4 Northern Harriers,
19 Sharp-shinned Hawks and 2 Cooper's Hawks. Also ca. 200 Tree Swallows,
24 Cedar Waxwings, 10 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 1
Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 5 PURPLE FINCHES, and 2
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES. All around the park were Osprey, but hunting
rather than migrating. One flew over us showing off its lunch: a
beautiful black Sea Bass. The air was thick with Monarchs and Dragonflies,
as has been the case all week.
