The flight was under birded this morning with only 3 birders, and the first half hour I was solo. The winds backed to northeast briefly and caused some birds to head out away from the hot corner, and with so few birders being present the total numbers seen or estimated are almost certainly low for what really went by. The mix is starting to include decent numbers of Yellow-rumpeds but Blackpolls are still the dominant bird at the moment. Both Kinglets were in good numbers, as were Swainson's Thrush and Scarlet Tanager. In the next 2 weeks Yellow-rumpeds will become abundant (have seen over 20,000 in a day in October, which is impressive until you compare to Cape May where flights over 200,000 have been reported in the past) and the main horde of White-throated Sparrows will be upon us.
