From Scott Kruitbosch:
09/30/12 - Stratford yard -- 2 PINE SISKIN at feeders, 2 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, little wave of 1 Northern Parula, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Blackpoll Warbler, 1 Scarlet Tanager, 3 Red-eyed Vireo.
Stratford Point -- 1 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, 7 Palm Warbler with 1 western among them, 2 House Wren, 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 3 American Kestrel, 38+ Savannah Sparrow, 2 Swamp Sparrow, 7+ White-throated Sparrow (now common), etc.
Stratford, Boothe Memorial Park -- 2 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH.
Pine Siskin photos and some of a hawking Palm at Stratford Point here: http://ctaudubon.blogspot.com/2012/09/pine-siskin-irruption-and-palm-warbler.html
Further points of interest at Stratford Point include the continued movements of common backyard species today, with a handful of Black-capped Chickadee and White-breasted Nuthatch present, but also 24+ Tufted Titmouse in one big group. BCCH are uncommon at Stratford Point, and the WBNU and TUTI are rare - everything is going south! Mourning Doves have been building into the several dozens for a few weeks, and we also have a group of Brown-headed Cowbird now pushing over 800 birds. While those aren't of note, anyone who visits should keep an eye on these groups for something among them that is.
In the last few days...
9/28/12 - Stratford, Boothe Memorial Park -- Little fallout group that included 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 6 Common Yellowthroat, 3 American Redstart, 4 Northern Parula, 3 Blackpoll Warbler, 8 Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle), 1 Black-throated Green Warbler.
9/26/12 - Stratford yard -- 25+ Northern Flickers feeding. Big fall for them, too.
