>From Steve and Charla Spector:
31 Oct 12, Milford Point, Piping Plover (Francis St) spit: While scoured of sand, the spit and its western extension remain pretty much intact. Flying over this afternoon were 3 Long-tailed Ducks,2 Black Skimmers, Common Loons. A single female RB Merg sitting on sandbar. 26 Snow Buntings, many Black Ducks, Brant. Shorebird group of about 200 Sanderling/Dunlin. Also a Ruddy Turnstone and 2 late Semipalmated Plover. No sparrows around the spit, but many on the marsh side. Coastal Center closed but looked fine, and osprey platform OK.
Silver Sands: Main entrance to the park still closed, but access from Walnut Beach possible. The natural landscape salt blasted by also not too changed by Sandy. The new boardwalk, esp the raised sections, took quite a beating. Yesterday almost sparrowless.
