The lingerers continue to surprise down at Lighthouse. Today, by the feeders, eating foxtail and mugwort seeds, was an extremely late, lemon (rather than golden) yellow BOBOLINK. So that's what they look like! After seeing about 10,000 this season it was nice to really see one. The equally tame, juvenile Red-shouldered hawk continues to hang around the feeders, sitting on the stump and in lower tree branches. Speaking of lingerers, the RS captured and ate a large dragonfly. No sign of the Northern Shrike around the feeders, nor across Morris Cove. Don Morgan and I had one Red-tail and one Peregrine towards the end of the 4 1/2 hours of coverage.
