The Connecticut Audubon Society is again offering the opportunity to join an exclusive, licensed bird survey in Cuba in conjunction with the Caribbean Conservation Trust. This program has a 16-year history as a conservation project focused on understanding Cuba ’s importance as a wintering habitat for migratory birds. From March 7-19, 2013, travel with a small authorized group and local guides through rarely explored parts of Cuba, the Caribbean’s largest and most ecologically diverse island nation, home to 24 endemic birds including the world’s smallest, the Bee Hummingbird; one of the rarest woodpeckers, Fernandina’s Flicker; and the magnificent, elusive Blue-headed Quail-Dove. Leader: Andrew Griswold, CAS Director of EcoTravel.
