From Steve Broker (Cheshire), with Sharon & Roy Dellinger (Colchester) and Lynn and John Grzyszek (Meriden):
12/09/12 - Moodus, Moodus Reservoir causeway (12 Noon) -- 50 Common Redpolls flocking in and feeding on alder catkins along the causeway. With each passing car, the redpolls would kick up, swirl around, and land in the same several alders to resume feeding. We watched them for up to 15 minutes until they pushed off to the west. Salmon River has recorded Common Redpoll in 7 of its 37 CBC years, with a high of 67 redpolls in 2007-08. At the Cone Farm adjacent to Moodus Reservoir (11:15 A.M.), 3 Killdeer in the corn field. The Salmon River CBC records Killdeer every 2-3 years.
