[CT Birds] Hammonasset and Mansfield

At Hammonasset today, about 40 or so Red Crossbills showing well. Interestingly, I observed males feeding seeds to females while perched together.  One female White-winged crossbill was with the Reds. About a dozen Red-breasted Nuthatches and numerous Black-capped Chickadees were also in the West Beach pines.

Off of Meig's Point, a Red-necked Grebe and a Gray Seal were off the jetty with several Common Loons. A small flock of Horned Larks were in the Nature Center lot. 

In Mansfield, two Red-winged Blackbirds were at a feeder for a count period talley
