[CT Birds] NH CBC Highlights

12/15/12: 113th annual New Haven Christmas Bird Count: 130 species, + 3
count week.  Notable sightings were: Cackling Goose, Northern Shoveler,
Canvasback, Surf and White-winged Scoter, Black Vulture, Bald Eagle,
American Kestrel, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Clapper Rail, American
Oystercatcher, Greater Yellowlegs, Purple Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe, Lesser
Black-backed Gull, RAZORBILL, Eastern Phoebe (CW), NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOW, Tree Swallow (CW), CAVE SWALLOW, Brown Thrasher, Orange-crowned
Warbler, NASHVILLE WARBLER, Palm Warbler, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER,
Yellow-breasted Chat (CW), Chipping Sparrow, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, Eastern
Meadowlark, Rusty Blackbird, Purple Finch, RED CROSSBILL, Pine Siskin, and
BLUE GROSBEAK.  The Black-and-White Warbler and Blue Grosbeak are new
additions to our all-time count list.  The warbler was found at East Shore
Park in New Haven and the grosbeak was found at Hansen Farm Park on Patten
Road in North Haven.
