I drove up to Simsbury Farms Park today (100 Old Farms Rd.) and easily
found the 6 female PINE GROSBEAKS continuing at the crab apple trees behind
the skating rink. One of the trees looked like it still had a fair amount
of fruit, so these birds might continue to stick around for a few more
days. N.b. they occasionally fly down to the tangle of bushes and vines in
the ditch below the trees.
Also tried for and missed the rough-legged hawk at the Meriden Airport, but
I did flush a FIELD SPARROW along with three song sp. down in the landfill
area below the road.
