1/7/2013; Patrick Dugan and I made a run along the coast from Stonington to Stratford. Surprisingly few birds on the Sound. Highlights include: Stonington Point -16 Common Eider (11 in close, 5 flying by beyond the jetty), 3 Purple Sandpipers; Avery Point - 1 young Razorbill; Voluntown - 300+ Horned Lark and 3 Snow buntings in a farm field; Essex Dock - 2 adult Bald Eagles, 50+ Common Mergansers; Branford coast - 1 Ruddy Turnstone; Stratford (Long Beach Blvd Pond) - Immature White Ibis, 4 Great Egrets, 2 Black-crowned Night-Herons (after 5 PM).

Frank Gallo,
Life is short. Bird often.
