[CT Birds] Highlights from Today

On birding travels today with Jay Kaplan and Jamie Meyers, highlights were:

yellow bellied sapsucker (Farmington Cemetary)
2 rough-legged hawks (Rocky Hill meadows)
merlin, horned larks, rb nuthatches (Hammo west end)
common eider, common goldeneye, purple sandpiper, horned grebe, common loon (Harkness Memorial)
rusty blackbirds, kingfisher (Elys Ferry Rd swamp, Old Lyme)
peregrine falcon (Arrigoni bridge, Middletown on an upper span)

and on the highways -- routes 9, 95, and in Old Lyme -- 4 red-shouldered hawks (plus tons of red-tails)
