Off topic but of interest to many I'm sure.  Just heard an oil tanker ran around in New Haven Harbor.  No details yet (no TV so have to rely on updates online)

Cost: $125.00 includes lunch
What: Develop critical skills before and to help ensure that wildlife receive humane and appropriate care during an oil spill response. This workshop provides participants with hands-on core competencies needed to assist the qualified wildlife responder during an incident involving wildlife.

Through dynamic teaching techniques, emphasis will be placed on developing:

· Safe work procedures
· Knowledge
· Practical Skills

Several of the goals for this workshop are focused on:

· Stressing the importance of both human and animal safety
· Enhancing the speed and quality of response following an event
· Clarifying the roll of first responders during an oil spill
· Improving the relationship between all parties of a spill response
· Integrating case histories of actual incidents involving animals
· Advancing the treatment and release rate for affected animals
