3/13  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10AM-1PM,  sunny,
41-51F, mid tide - rising, marsh free of ice.
Viewed from windows facing marsh.
Walking to the building was like listening to a serenade....cardinals,
carolina wrens,
Grackles, Red winged blackbirds,  robins, all singing.  Spring is almost
here.  Our ospreys should be back next week and that is the official start
of spring for me.
On the marsh:   9 American black ducks, 2 mallards,  71 Green winged teal,
110+ Brant, 2 Gadwalls (the male was head bobbing, following the female), 4
Canada geese, 11 Buffleheads, 5 Red breasted mergansers, , 1 Northern
harrier, 11 mute swans, herring & Ring billed gulls.
At feeders and on grounds:  Robins, 2 mourning doves,  2 Song sparrows, 2
American Tree sparrows, 2 White throated sparrows, 11 House sparrows, 4
pigeons, 2 House finches (pair), 16 Red winged blackbirds (11 immature
males, 4 adult males and 1 female), in with too many to count Common
Grackles, 4 Common redpolls, 2 Cardinals (pair).
