A species was seen in Old Lyme moving along the shore making the call "Ruff Ruff". Photos were taken. As it moved along, seagulls, sandpipers, and plovers flushed and scattered in all directions. It was probably from Labrador (a miscalculation in its migration direction?). It was obviously lost as its owners were no where in sight. It was of the black color morph subspecies, also commonly known as a black Lab. This species is not allowed in sensitive areas during shorebird nesting season, so if you see it, or its closely related cousin, the golden color morph of the Labrador retriever, please report it to the wildlife authorities immediately and do the nesting birds a favor.
