Interesting Song Sparrow (maybe?) - on November 9, a song sparrow appeared
with a large growth on the right side of its face and a very wide gray
supercilium on the left. Its right eye slowly clouded over and closed as the
lump grew. It came to feed every day, getting "sicker". Then the lump
started to go down, leaving the eye apparently blind, the left one clouding
over and the bird wobbly on its feet. The bird disappeared for a week then
returned, the lump gone and the left eye looking better. Now the right eye
has cleared. The wide gray stripe remains and there is a white patch where
the lump was, and the bird would seem to be in good health again, 5 months
later.
