4/10 Watertown, Gustafson's Orchard, Linkfield Road - one AMERICAN KESTREL (box at site); one EASTERN MEADOWLARK singing on territory.

In the last few days kestrels have also been in the vicinity of nest boxes on Sand Bank Road in Watertown and Anderson Road in Morris. Also in general, as noted by many, Tuesday offered evidence of a huge arrival of Eastern Phoebes. They really were everywhere. At least in the northwestern quadrant of the state (Waterbury northward) Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers are now drumming up a storm. They have a distinctive syncopated drum different from other woodpeckers.
