4/17 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10:30-1PM, dead low
tide, rising by around noon...partly sunny, 62-67F
viewed from windows facing marsh
At 10:30 the Male was on the nest eating a fish, & female on the eggs (2 as
of last count).
On the marsh:
4 GREAT EGRETS, Many GREEN WINGED TEALS, AMERICAN WIGEONS, 1 EURASIAN
WIGEON , 4 GADWALLS, BLACK DUCKS, MALLARDS, 6 RED BREASTED MERGANSERS,
couldn't see the Shovelers, MUTE SWAN.
10 YELLOWLEGS (9 Greater, 1 lesser).
On grounds, KINGISHER, CARDINALS, SONG SPARROWS, COMMON GRACKLES, 1
GOLDFINCH, 3 DARK EYED JUNCOS, WHITE THROATED SPARROW, RED WINGED
BLACKBIRDS, STARLINGS, ROBINS, MOURNING DOVES and House sparrows invading
the Purple Martin condos. As for our human visitors, (2 local & 2 from
Florida)...they were very interested in any warblers, ducks and shorebirds
to be seen. No comments about "oh it's just a duck".
