It wouldn't surprise me if we have had a later date of occurrence in Spring in the intervening 27 years. If a Great Cormorant is in alternate plumage it is a fairly straight forward identification.

According to "Connecticut Birds" the latest date for Great Cormorant is May 28, 1986.
