Ken Elkins, Education Program Manager at the Bent of the River Audubon,
will be on Doctor Radio (Sirius Radio) tomorrow at 6 am to talk about Bird
Tales. Bird Tales is a therapy program he created that uses plush birds
with lifelike calls and bird feeder observation to treat people with
dementia. It is a really exciting program that helps people with
Alzheimers in some fundamental ways – it can actually trigger happy
memories in many people and promote calmness in otherwise agitated
patients. There is also an article about this program in Audubon Magazine
this month.

Please excuse this one time deviation from straight bird talk - this is a
fascinating program for all of us who already know how awesome birds are.
