A brief walk out Sandy Point in West Haven with Frank Gallo and Vanessa
Mickan this evening yielded a LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER,
presumably returning migrants (especially the Lesser Yellowlegs, which
generally return sometime around the 4th of July). Couple that with a
Red-necked Stint recently seen in MA and NY (reportedly the same
individual), and it would appear that shorebirds are starting to trickle
back south.

We also had 2 BLACK SKIMMERS and 2 LONG-TAILED DUCKS among the more
expected species.
