6/26  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center   10:30-1PM, 82F,
low tide rising
At 10:30, the female osprey was on the nest with the one chick which has
grown almost to adult size.  Male osprey was on his perch.  Around 11, he
flew off and hadn't returned yet at 1 PM.   Over the coarse of the morning,
another pair of ospreys was cruising over the nest . At one point when our
male osprey was not present, the female took off to chase off the other two
ospreys.   The chick was stretching its wings and preening .
Other species seen include the Purple Martins at the gourd condo, a pair of
goldfinches, Cowbirds, Red winged blackbirds, Common grackles, House wren
(heard singing), Titmice-singing,  House sparrows,
Mourning doves, Robins, Tree swallows.
On the marsh were 6 Mute swans, 3 Great egrets, 1 Snowy EGret fly by,
several Least terns fishing,  a pair of mallards, 1 D.C. Cormorant fly over.
