Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate chimney swifts last night.  It was a great night, and we hope to be putting it on again.  The birds did cooperate, to some extent, and everyone had a great time.  Please visit the website and check in on our research and education efforts.  www.ct.gov/deep/chimneyswift.

Subject: [CT Birds] Willimantic Swift Total last night

At the Nathan Hale roost, 262 chimney swifts- an impressive count!  A few dozen were observed at the town hall but it is supposed that many more had  already gone in due to the earlier rain.  The DEEP led the walk down the street from Willi Brew and did a very nice job of explaining swift ecology.  Maybe every CT city should have swift event night.  Around 50 or more birders were on hand to watch the swifts tornado into the roosts.

This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut.
