Update on this morning's walk.  After consulting again with other leaders, the bird list has grown to 65 species, including an adult WESTERN SANDPIPER, which was speculated on at the time, but identified surely only after consulting shorebird references with regard to wing covert pattern and timing of molt.

Subject: [CT Birds] NHBC First Wed. Walk- CASPIAN TERN

9/4  Milford Point - New Haven Bird Club's First Wednesday Walk, 8:00-noon, led by Renee Baade, Frank Mantlik, Gina Nichol, John Oshlick, with 28+ birders:  62 bird species, with highlights: adult CASPIAN TERN, 3 BRANT, 1 Common Loon, Peregrine Falcon, and 12 species of shorebirds including 2 Pectoral Sandpipers. Also impressive were hundreds of Dragonflies in the air (Green Darners, Black Saddlebags).
