9/6/13 - New Haven - Lighthouse Point Park Hawk Watch - 92 migrating
27 Osprey
3 Northern Harriers
19 Sharp-shinned Hawks
8 Cooper's Hawks
2 Red-shouldered Hawks
19 Broad-winged Hawks
1 Red-tailed Hawk
3 American Kestrels
2 Merlins
1 Unidentified Accip.
2 Unidentified Buteos
2 Unidentified Raptors

Other migrants included: 300 Tree Swallows, 110 Chimney Swifts, 290 Cedar
Waxwings, 14 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 4 Eastern Kingbirds, 1
Semi-palmated Plover, 3 Laughing Gulls, and 33 Bobolinks.
In the park, guest Larry London found 1 BROWN THRASHER, among other things.

One Northern Flicker narrowly escaped the clutches of a stooping Cooper's
Hawk, making a big squack.
A smallish Osprey stooped on the Juvenile Bald Eagle.
One Sharpie was escorted off the property by an entourage of Tree Swallows.

It was a nice day with winds from the N dying out at noon and turning S
which signalled the end of the migrants. Many birds ended up flying very
high up and were difficult to spot.
