[CT Birds] Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven - DICKCISSEL, Purple Finch

After the fog lifted we had a fly-over DICKCISSEL and a Pipit, and a short finch flight with at least 20 Purple Finch.  68 hawks included 6 Bald Eagles.  Five Bald Eagles were seen at noon in a line, heading east to west, over a span of only about 3-5 minutes.

This afternoon's falcon follies consisted of mostly Kestrels munching on dragonflies.  

Nice light northerly winds are forecasted for the next few days.  On some of these days, the light winds may be overcome by afternoon on-shore breezes.  

Later this week, keep an eye out for blocking weather, rain and then any forecasts of real strong (20+mph) NW winds.  Lighthouse peak flights (in terms of species diversity, numbers, close views, etc.) occur on strong NW, N or W winds sometime around Columbus Day Weekend.
