When the wind is in the east,
'Tis neither good for man nor beast

There were only 15 hawks (Osprey-5, juv. N Harrier-5, Kestrel-1, Merlin-1, Sharp-shinned-1, Cooper's-1) today.  There were well over a dozen Park sightings of (a) juv. Merlin (optimistically counted once) and 2 Park sightings of a juv. Peregrine (counted not at all).

Most of the Blue Jays (perhaps 15 today) apparently cleared as did the Tree Swallows (300 today).  Also, heading west were 886 Cormorants (those I could see were DC Cormorant in long skeins of 20-120), 14 Common Loons, 2 Bobolink, 2 Brant, 8 BH Cowbird and a few palm and YR warblers.  Also, 19 WW Scoter in the New Haven Harbor, and a Common Raven,  croaking away overhead at 8 am and again at 9.
