October is peak season for the remaining hawk watch sites.  These are the so-called "coastal" sites (coastal Lighthouse, that river valley hybrid site Boothe Memorial and that mega-hybrid Quaker Ridge).  The weather during October has been horrible, for hawks.  No good blocking weather, no strong, really strong, passing fronts.

It sure would have been nice to get a steady 25 mph NW wind during the past couple weeks.  We'll settle for this Thursday's forecast instead.  Moderate W winds should at least bring a few hundred passerines and a couple hundred hawks, to LPP.
