From Steve Broker (Cheshire):
12/05/13 - Ora Avenue/Proto Drive, East Haven (12:55 P.M.-1:25 P.M.) -- 3 Rusty Blackbirds, 1 Field Sparrow, 1 Fox Sparrow, 20 Song Sparrows, 8 American Tree Sparrows, etc.. Two small feeding stations have been set up well past the lumber yard: (1) immediately inside the chain link gate at the large asphalt pile and just beyond the left turn to the landfill; (2) further down Ora at the chain link gate that blocks the emergency road to the Tweed-New Haven runways. Feeding stations here brought in 7 Fox Sparrows on the 2012 New Haven CBC. Small contributions of birdseed to these stations would be appreciated. Two additional weedy borders further down Ora are particularly good for sparrows, one a hundred or so yards beyond feeding station #2 and one toward the far end of Ora where the clearcut of trees took place last year.
