Notable birds Friday at the Quinebaug Fish Hatchery in Plainfield were 2 (adult) Bald Eagles, 7 Great Blue Herons, and a Belted Kingfisher.

In Pomfret, on the large grassy lawns in the area of Audubon's Bafflin Sanctuary, there has been a flock of blackbirds (mostly Common Grackles) numbering >5000 birds both Thursday and Friday. It is quite a spectacle when they stream overhead for more than 5 minutes. I've searched for Yellow-headed Blackbird and there have been some tantalizing fly-by candidates in the flock but none that could be confirmed. No Rusty Blackbirds detected either.
