This was send to me by Mardi Dickinson.  There have been a lot of good birds seen there over the years and it is a pretty big chunk of undeveloped habitat for Coastal Fairfield Count.  Unfortunately, I can't make  it to the meeting, but some birders in that area may have an interest in what is planned for the site:

Sen. Duff & Mayor Rilling to Host Meeting on the Future of Manresa Island

As power station shuts down, what's to be done with the site?

NORWALK, CT - On Wednesday, December 18th at 7:00 PM State Senator Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) and Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling will host a public meeting in the Norwalk Police Department's Community Room at 1 Monroe Street to discuss the future of Manresa Island after the anticipated deactivation of the Manresa Island Power Plant.

"There has been a good deal of speculation and talk around town about what will happen to Manresa Island after the power plant shuts down. All of the relevant stakeholders will be gathered together at this meeting to discuss exactly that question. I would encourage anyone who is curious about the future of the site to attend," said Senator Duff.

**Please note that prior attempts to publicize this meeting may have advertised a different location. The meeting will take place in the Norwalk Police Department's Community Room at 1 Monroe Street.**

WHO: State Senator Bob Duff; Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling; representatives of NRG Energy, Inc., operators of the Manresa Island Power Plant; Norwalk Police Chief Thomas E. Kulhawik; Norwalk Fire Chief Denis McCarthy; members of the Norwalk Planning Commission and Zoning Commission; and Alexis Cherichetti, Senior Environmental Officer, City of Norwalk. All members of the public and the media are also invited to attend.

WHAT: A public meeting to discuss the future of Manresa Island following the anticipated closing of the Manresa Island Power Plant. Matters to be discussed include plant deactivation and security, environmental concerns, zoning issues, potential for future development at the site and other related issues.
